Why see Future Islands?

So Perfect And So Sweet

Up until 2014, Future Islands were an acclaimed, but lesser known synth-pop band from Baltimore, but that all changed with their appearance on David Letterman's Late Show. Not only was lead singer Samuel Herring's dancing the stuff that memes' dreams are made of, but the song they played, 'Seasons (Waiting on You)', was obviously something special. Later named by Pitchfork as the best track of the year, 'Seasons' proved to be the band's breakthrough, and they now stand as one of the indie world's most respected groups.

2017 saw the release of the band's latest record, The Far Field, which boasts bucket loads of indelible melodies, swelling bass lines, and Herring's impassioned vocals. Catch Future Islands, who are truly one of alternative music's must see live acts, when they play near you soon!

First concert after Covid lockdown

Future Islands picked up right from where they were before the shutdowns - In fine form. The band was tight and clean, emotive frontman Sam Herring’s voice was strong and watching his command of the stage was like watching a Shakespearean actor play Hamlet. You can’t take your eyes off his performance. The crowd stood for the entire show and were rewarded with beautiful music and a compelling performance from Future Islands. You have to see them to believe. ... Read more

Distant arrival for Future Islands

I'm a fairly recent fan of Future Islands, a little more than a year. I live in Tyler, I still come to Austin area a couple of times a year, but I kinda miss the old AWHQ days. This is my first time at Stubb's, loved it. This venue of a renovated group of old builds was so Austin( cool to the max). Words can't illustrate what this veteran east coast group brings. Ever song sounds as good as on CDs(I know...I'm dating myself). I was a huge fan before, even more so now. ... Read more
